

Born December 11, 1945 in St. Louis, Missouri, he was the son of Andrew Richard and Una Pearl (Waters) Carlson, he married Debbie S. Wood on April 30, 1977 in Peoria. She died February 2, 2011 in Peoria. He was also preceded in death by his parents; his birth mother, Betty Peck; two sisters, Patty and Connie and one brother, Paul Carlson.
Surviving are his two children, Juanita Ashwood of Peoria and William “Andy” (Miranda) Carlson of Dunlap; four grandchildren. Eliessia, Brandon, Alyssa and Chase; one brother, Mike and two sisters, Bonnie and Doris.
He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving in Vietnam.
Danny worked as a postal carrier for the United States Postal Service for 31 years before retiring. He also worked as a semi-truck driver, at Meinen Field in Peoria and with each election at the voting polls in Canton.
He was a member of the Peoria Heights Navy Marine Club and a lifetime member of the Military Order of the Devil Dogs.
Danny enjoyed fishing, bowling and making jerky. He also enjoyed spending time at the Navy Marine Club and playing darts. He loved spending time with his family.
His visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, December 15, 2023 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. There will be no service.
