

Born December 29, 1942 in Pekin to Henry and Louise (Nack) Gschwend, she married Dohn W. Winters on June 1, 1974 in Pekin. He survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Juanita Lumpkin of Pekin; three sons, Joseph Loeffleman and John (Betty) Loeffleman, both of Pekin and Dohn (Tammy) Winters, II of South Pekin; one step-son, Doug (Andrea) Winters of Texas; 15 grandchildren, Herbie and David Herberger, Shannon and Billy Hockaday, Jody, Cody, Jolene, Joey, Amanda and Jerrica Loeffleman, Trace, Mona Winters and Dohn Winters, III, Alexis Murphy and Jessica VanNattan; two step-grandsons, Austin and Dillon Winters and one brother, Wayne Gschwend of North Dakota.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Robert and Kenneth Gschwend.
Darlene had worked for five years as a cashier at Walmart in Pekin.
She was a former member of the local ESDA and Railroad Days Committee.
Darlene loved the color purple, listening to Elvis and playing bingo. She also enjoyed playing cards and doing ceramics.
She was a former member of Second reformed Church in Pekin.
Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 1, 2022 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Steve Weber will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
