Sending my deepest sympathy to Dave's family.

Dave and I attended Prairie Grove Grade School and Cary-Grove High School together, in Crystal Lake and Cary, Illinois.  He was one of the kindest "kids" I knew.  I think the last time I saw Dave was several years ago, at our 20th+1 Cary-Grove High School reunion, maybe in the early 2000's?.

I didn't keep in touch with Dave as an adult, but I will always remember him in our "youth" as a very sweet guy.  

In September, we will celebrate our 50th high school reunion.  I will lift a glass to you.

Dave as days go by and you are not here, my heart weeps not for you because you are at peace and out of pain.  My heart weeps because i mss you. To know I can't talk and joke anymore with you. Your were special. You had a good run in life. You enjoyed life ,we know cause of all the battle scars you had.  Yet you didn't let it break you down and feel sorry for yourself. Most of all I miss you spirit. So I say good by brother till we see each other again.  Love always in spirit and soul Cathy  

To look at Dave you would think he was so tough.  Inside was a gentle soul who would laugh and warm your heart.  Many a family trip were we happy knowing Dave could protect us just with a look.  He loved his children and grandchildren.  After losing touch for so many years it saddened us to hear about his passing, but Dave is going to be put to use by helping from above and be at peace.  His smile and laughter will be missed.

Josh, Heather, and family - I am so sorry for your loss. Dave was a good man, with a heart of gold, and infectious laugh. It’s been quite some time since I last saw him, but I will always remember him and the times we spent together when he took me in and gave me a place to live as a teen. We had a lot of great memories and I will be forever grateful for his generosity and fatherly support during a time when I needed it most. Like the time when I drove his truck into your house and tore out the window a/c unit... remember that? He seriously could have killed me, but didn’t. Instead, he still made me drive that truck to go pick up Heather and I was a nervous wreck!! He handled it with such grace though, I think anyone else would have kicked me out! Lol just goes to show what kind of guy he was. He will be missed, but remembered fondly. Prayers and condolences to you all... may he Rest In Peace. Love, Katie
