

Born March 5, 1950 in Elgin to George and Julitta (Bolanas) Krepel, Sr., he married Laura Switzer on June 23, 1973 in Crystal Lake.
Surviving are one son, Joshua A. (Jennifer) Krepel of Algonquin; one daughter, Heather A. (RJ) Babcock-Kuligowski of Machesney Park; six grandchildren, Hailey Weiss, Noah Kuligowski, Owen Babcock, Myles Babcock, Avery Kuligowski and Lily Krepel; six brothers, Stephen Justen of Peoria, Thomas (Kathy) Krepel, George (Laura) Krepel, James (Windy) Krepel, Henry (Beate) Krepel, all of Crystal Lake and five sisters, Juelita Lindstrom of Marengo, Dorothy Mueller of Crystal Lake, Cathy Harrison of Peoria, Susan (Lloyd) Matherne of Pensacola, Florida and Sally (Marvin) Nay of Indian Orchard, Massachusetts.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his stepmother, Jacqueline R. Krepel.
David was a longtime Carpenter, working out of Carpenters Local 2087 in Lisle.
He will be remembered as a free spirit who lived life to the fullest. He was an avid woodworker and was dedicated to his grandchildren. In earlier years, David achieved 2nd in the nation as a heavyweight wrestler while in junior college.
Private inurnment will be in Windridge Memorial Park in Cary. Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin is assisting the family with arrangements.
