

PEKIN ~ Robert Dean Bacon, 58, of Pekin, passed away at 5:15 p.m. Monday, November 2, 2009 in the Emergency Room of PekinHospital.Born June 23, 1951in Pekin toRobert and Naomi (McEvers) Bacon, he married Ann Hurley on July 13, 1974 in Havana. She survives.Also surviving are one son, Peter Bacon, stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina; two daughters, Dr. Elizabeth Bacon of Cincinnati, Ohio and Gretchen (Matt) Jacobs of Phoenix, Arizona; one aunt; one uncle; and several cousins.He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Bradley Bacon.Dean spent 32 years with the Pekin Police Department during which time he was very active in crime prevention in the schools and the Officer Ollie Program. Heowned and operated Maurie's in downtown Pekin and was currently working for Allegiant Airlines at the Peoria Airport.He was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Pekin and was serving on the committee to Save James Field. He was currently serving his 6th term on Pekin Public Schools District 108Board of Education. He was a former member of the Pekin AMBUCS and Elk's Lodge, and was apast board member of the Pekin Boys and Girls Club.His funeralwill beat 11 a.m. Saturday, November 7, 2009 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Pekin. Father Brian Kellington and Father James Fedosuk will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 7p.m. Friday at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. Burial will be inLaurel Hill Cemetery in Havana.Memorial contributions may be made to the Pekin Boys and Girls Club.
