

Born August 23, 1924 in Springfield to Walter and Ethel (Pedigo) Lister, she married Guy "Pete" Flowers, Jr. on November 20, 1941 in Bowling Green, Missouri. He died March 14, 1988 in Pekin. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one daughter (Sandra S. Herrmann on August 2, 2006 in Pekin), and two sisters (Lois Cook and Alice Eitenmiller).
Surviving are one son-in-law, Donald E. Herrmann of Pekin; four grandchildren, Darryn G. (Lori) Herrmann of Mahomet, Kristina S. (Chris) Egli of LaRose, Derek J. Herrmann of Bloomington, and Rachel L. Herrmann of Pekin; four great-grandchildren; one step-great-grandson; two step-great-great-granddaughters; three brothers, Virgil "Butch" (Joyce) Lister of Pekin, Carl (Joy) Lister and Richard (Jackie) Lister, both of Peoria; and one sister, Shirley (Don) Buss of Venus, Texas.
DeEtta worked for the American Distilling Company in Pekin from 1945 to 1955. In 1957, she began working for Pekin Venetian Blinds and later moved to their new store in Sunset Plaza, Home Decorating, last working in 1970. She last worked as a food demonstrator for Supermarket Marketing in the Pekin area from 1989 to 1997.
DeEtta enjoyed sewing costumes for her grandchildren and doing crossword puzzles. She had been a volunteer at Pekin Hospital.
Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 27, 2006at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Thomas R. Wenndt will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
