Denny G Rose

PEKIN ~ Denny Gerald Rose, 80, of 23263 Old 35 in Siren, Wisconsin, passed away at 8:17 p.m. Friday, December 14, 2007 at the home of his daughter, 922 East London Avenue in Peoria Heights surrounded by his family. He was formerly of Pekin.

Born October 9, 1927 in Peoria to Elmer Arthur and Clara Leona (Richmond) Rose, he married Donna Lee Hayes on June 12, 1949 in Pekin.

Surviving are two daughters, Janet S. (Mike) Buzick of North Pekin and Denise D. "Dee Dee" (Tom) Kondrat of Peoria Heights; seven grandchildren, Shane Maxwell, Cathy (Mark) Rathjen, Madyson Kondrat, Brandi Holliday, all of Peoria Heights, Shawn Marshall, Cortney (Greg) Campbell and Jenna Patch, all of Pekin and fourteen great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Ronald Lee Rose on January 30, 2007 in Grafton, North Dakota.

He was a World War II Navy veteran.

Denny was a Firefighter for the City of Pekin for 28 years, retiring as a Captain on May 2, 1982. He was a retired member of Pekin Firefights Local 524. He previously had worked as a cabinet maker at the Reinhard Lumber Company.

He was a member of the Faith Fellowship Baptist Church in Luck, Wisconsin.

He was a member of Empire Lodge 126, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of Illinois in Pekin. He also was a member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 916 and Pekin Eagles Aerie 1869.

He enjoyed woodworking and fishing. He also enjoyed playing rummy and dominos with family and friends.

His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 19, 2007at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. Chaplain Mary Jo Zacher will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, December 18, 2007at the funeral home. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield, with military rites accorded. The Pekin Fire Department will provide an honor guard at his visitation and funeral.
