

Born April 30, 1930 in Oxford, Indiana to Ralph G. and Ellen Roberta (Benson) Doyle, he married Betty L. Beams on December 19, 1953 in Peoria. She survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Donita (Terry) Elmore of Pekin; one son, Patrick (Susan) Doyle of Peoria; and four grandchildren, Kristin Elmore and Kylie Elmore, both of Pekin, Keegan Doyle and Camden Doyle, both of Peoria.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Roger “Jerry” Doyle and Bernard Doyle; and two sisters, Margie Burris and Rosemary Armbrust.
Don was a 1948 graduate of Forest City High School.
A United States Air Force veteran of the Korean War, he served from January 4, 1951 to December 8, 1953. He attained the rank of Airman First Class.
Don was employed by Keystone Steel and Wire Company in Bartonville for 35 years, retiring in December of 1988 as a wire drawer in the drawing department.
He was a member and past Monarch of Irin Grotto in Pekin, where he had served as vice president of the Grotto Clowns. He also was a member of Empire Masonic Lodge #126 A.F. & A.M. of Pekin and past member of the Masonic Temple Board. He had been a member and past board member of the Spring Lake Sportsman Club in rural Manito. He was a Webelo Leader for Boy Scout Pack #84 in Tremont for 7 years. He was a former member of Tremont Baptist Church.
Don enjoyed gardening and traveling.
His visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 2, 2016 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Masonic rites will follow at 2 p.m. Burial of his cremated remains will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield at a later date.
