

Born May 10, 1926 in West Terre Haute, Indiana to Matthew and Maude (West) Irving, she married LeRoy M. Douglas on June 6, 1947 in Creve Coeur. He died February 3, 2012 in East Peoria. She also was preceded in death by one brother, Arthur J. Irving.
Surviving are one daughter, Rebecca (David) Traver of Creve Coeur; one son, Kevin (Glenda) Douglas of Sterling, Colorado; eight grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren.
Dorothy had been a Sunday School teacher, music committee person and missionary society worker at the Baptist church and the Wesleyan church, both in Creve Coeur. She later moved her church membership to the First Missionary Church in North Pekin.
A homemaker, she enjoyed playing piano, crocheting, gardening, and canning. She also loved to travel and spend time with her family.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur. The Rev. Tony Darr will officiate. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
