

Born November 6, 1935 in Kingston Mines to Emil and Erma (Clark) Bitner, he married Marvel Landis on July 29, 1955 in Canton. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Mark Douglas (Deborah) Bitner of Bartonville and Michael Douglas (Denise) Bitner of Glasford; and two grandsons, Jason Bitner of Chicago and Dylan Bitner of Glasford.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Sandra Hobson and one brother, Virgil Bitner.
Doug loved fishing, hunting and camping.
He was a small, but mighty man who worked hard all of his able life.
He worked as a wire drawer in the mid mill at Keystone Steel & Wire in Bartonville for 40 years, retiring in 1995. He also had worked for Cowser Auction Service in Glasford for many years.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral. Burial will be in Lancaster Cemetery in Glasford.
The family would like to thank Alicia, Karen, Jenny, Jordan and their social worker, Karen from Harbor Light Hospice for the special care they provided for Doug and the family.
