

Born March 31, 1959 in Peoria to Aubrey N. and Veldah L. (Smithmier) Daniel, he married Kathy Kay King on January 18, 2001 in Pekin. She survives.
Also surviving are his mother, Veldah Schmidt of Lakeland, TN; one step-son, Timothy Mahnesmith of Pekin; one step-daughter, Sara Mahnesmith of Pekin; two brothers, Andy (Janet) Daniel of Phoenix, AZ and Barry (Laura) Daniel of Lakeland, TN; one sister, Joan (Ross Riggs) Huber of Urbana; one step-brother, Steve (Patty) Schmidt of Indianapolis; two step-sisters, Maria (Peter) Whalen, both of Pennsylvania and Regina (Jeff) Engelbretson of Hudson, WI and fifteen nieces and nephews. He also leaves his mother-in-law, Kay King of Pekin and a sister-in-law, Sheri (Dave) Ledgerwood of Manito.
He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.
Doug previously worked as a machine operator and enjoyed his work with Stan Shoff in Metamora. He also enjoyed doing yardwork and snow removal for others.
Doug was member of Driven Church in Pekin. His life was centered on faith and family. He also was fond of music.
His celebration of life memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, September 14, 2014 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. The family will receive friends for one hour before the service at the funeral home. Cremation has been accorded.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to his wife to help with expenses.
