He was born February 17, 1975 in Peoria to Eddie Eugene and Linda Suzanne (Henard) Pumphrey. He was preceded in death by his father; his grandparents; and one aunt.
Surviving are his mother, Linda Pumphrey of Pekin; one brother, Tim Pumphrey of Fairbanks, Alaska; and one sister, Trisha Pumphrey of Pekin; and a dear family member, Brenda McBride of Pekin.
Matthew had attended Pekin Bible Church.
He was a 1996 graduate of Schramm School in Pekin. He was proud to have participated in the Special Olympics and earned several medals over the years.
Matthew loved going to concerts and listening to country music. He enjoyed Harley Davidson motorcycles with his brother and his Dad and treasured his visits with his sister.
His funeral will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the family to help with expenses.
