

Born September 5, 1944 in Pekin to Herman and Florence J. (Klockenga) Roth, he married Gail A. Miller on April 16, 1988 at First United Presbyterian Church in Pekin. She survives.
Surviving are one son, Robert (Sharon) Miller of Maple Park; his sister-in-law Gina (Bryan Hall) Steinsultz and nephew Perry D. Steinsultz Jr. both of Pekin; one granddaughter, Brittany (Casey) Kara of Janesville, Wisconsin; one great-granddaughter, Avery Kara; five nieces and nephews, Pam (Steve) Schmidgall of Tremont, Roger Look of Metamora, Connie (John) Vaughn of Pekin, Mike (Lori) Martin of Naples, Florida and Doug (Lori) Martin of Pekin and several great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Betty Martin; one brother, Robert Roth and a niece, Yvonne Look.
He had served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
Ed retired from the Union Pacific Railway as a conductor at age 60 with 40 years of service.
He was an outdoorsman and loved being on the water. His happy place was spending summers on Big Turtle Lake in Bemidji, Minnesota, where he loved fishing and boating. He also enjoyed snowmobiling, riding his jet ski and his four wheelers. Ed was a longtime private pilot and a former member of the Pekin Boat Club.
No services or visitation are planned at this time. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. Cremation has been accorded. Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
