Eileen A Ladd

PEKIN~ Eileen A Ladd, 86, of 2727 Vista Grande Court, formerly of Springfield and Peoria, passed away at 6:32 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, at her home. Born July 15, 1920 near Loami to William and Madaline Gustine Adams, she married Ira J. Ladd on August 2, 1940 in Springfield. He survives along with their son, Jerry Ladd of Pekin, and several nieces and nephews. Her parents, one brother and one sister preceded her in death

Eileen grew up in Springfield and graduated from Feitshans High School and Browns Business School. When in second grade, she was in a one room school house at the time a tornado took off the school's roof.

She belonged to Grace Presbyterian Church for the last twenty years.

A loving and faithful wife and Mother, she was quiet and unassuming, but strong and uncompromising in her faith and love in Christ. She was always active in the Missions of the Church, wherever she lived, serving as a Sunday School teacher, youth director, ladies organizations, and especially enjoyed corresponding with overseas missionaries.

She loved being a homemaker and she was always busy in the home with a new "project". She was talented in decorating, from painting to making curtains and drapes. She loved cooking for family and friends, and it was claimed by all that she made the "best" pies of anyone they knew!

Eileen was always a "can-do" person and always seemed to have time for "one more" thing she wanted to do. Except for a short time being a victim and survivor of cancer in 1991, she was blessed with a long healthy, productive, often possibly unobserved life. She had a passion for neatness and organization.

Her funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, March 26, 2007at Grace Presbyterian Church, Peoria, with Rev. Robert Donaldson officiating. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. Private burial will be at Glendale Memorial Gardens.
