

Born September 1, 1921 in Pekin to Archibald Franklin and Rose (Gish) Mitchell, she married Robert Elmer Zimmerman on October 4, 1939 in Mapleton. He died February 2, 1989 in Canton. She also was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and two sisters.
Surviving are two daughters, Donna J. (Ivan) Duffield of Glasford and Sandra J. (David) Jacobs of Normal; one son, David R. Zimmerman of Banner; ten grandchildren, twenty four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Phyllis Mucha of Glasford.
Eleanor was a secretary for the Glasford Telephone Company, and later for Scott Mccoy Insurance Agency until retiring in 1998. She also was a long time book keeper and former board member for the Maple Ridge Cemetery in Mapleton.
She was a former member of the Illinois Valley Antique Auto Club and the Glasford Senior Citizens Center, and was a "die hard" Chicago Cubs fan.
Eleanor was a member of Glasford Baptist Church.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 24, 2009 at the Glasford Baptist Church. The Rev. Paul Cook will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the church. Additional visitation will be one hour beforethe funeralon Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Maple Ridge Cemetery in Mapleton.
