

Born October 25, 1917 near Scottsville, KY to Lee Franklin and Marina "Rennie" (Jewel) Buckhanon, she married Oakley R. Stovall on January 14, 1940 in Scottsville. He died on April 11, 2003 in East Peoria. She also was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Karl C. Buckhanon.
Surviving are two daughters, Sandy Maas of Pekin and Cindy (Jim) Smith of North Pekin; three grandchildren, Paul (Tami) Metcalf and Jeff (Mary) Justice, both of Pekin, and Andrea (Justin) Schoenbein of North Pekin; eight great-grandchildren, John Justice, Jordan Justice, Alleshia Justice, Robbie Metcalf, Zach Metcalf, Joe Metcalf, Sammy Metcalf, and Anthony Metcalf; and one great-great-grandson, Hunter Metcalf.
Elizabeth was a charter member of Grace Baptist Church in Pekin, where she was a Sunday school teacher and BYF leader for many years. She also attended the Bible Class and Women’s Missionary Society at the church.
A homemaker, Elizabeth was a very passionate reader. She read every day of her life and was a great prayer warrior.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 24, 2011 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Charlie Dean will officiate. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
