PEKIN – Evalyn Marie Bitner, 90, formerly of 410 Winter St., passed away at 2:05 a.m., Thursday, June 19, 2008 at Timbercreek Rehab and Health Care in Pekin.
Born November 21, 1917 in Orion Township, rural Fulton County to Lee Roy and Clara (Hedge) Rawley, she married Charles R. Bitner on March 9, 1935 in Monterey. He died August 22, 1977 in Peoria.
She was also preceded in death by 1 son,; 1 daughter; 3 sisters; and 1 brother.
Surviving are 1 son, Charles E. Bitner of Lehigh, Florida; 6 daughters, Vivian (James) Harrison, Shirley (Gale) Dwyer, and Renee (Ralph) Lawson, all of Pekin; Kay (Terry) Harrison of Banner, Terry Bitner of Cape Coral, Florida, and Karen Sue Brakebill of Lake Placid, Florida; many grand, great grand, and great-great-grandchildren; and 1 brother, Harold Rawley of Florida.
Evalyn had worked as a housekeeper at the Peoria State Hospital in Bartonville for many years, until its closing in 1973.
She was a member of the First Assembly of God in Pekin.
Cremation will be accorded. There will be no visitation or funeral.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin chapel.
