

Born November 25, 1958 in Peoria to Elmo Lee and Millie Maurine (Spencer) Cheney, he married Karen Elizabeth Allen on August 10, 1984 in Peoria.
Surviving are two daughters, Allison (Steven Fornal) Cheney of Peoria and Anelle (Aaron) Ledvina of Madison, WI; one granddaughter, Claire Ledvina; one brother, Dennis Cheney of LaCrosse, WI; one sister, Suzi (John) Rudd of West Peoria; and three half-sisters, Kayla (Gary) McGrane of Sunnyland, Anita Meyers of Springfield, and Sherry Blackburn of Nevada.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Allen Cheney.
A United States Army veteran, he served from September 23, 1976 to September 9, 1979.
After his military service, Fritz used his mechanical know-how as a service manager for 20 years and then, a maintenance man at the Salvation Army in Peoria.
Along with his love for fixing cars, Fritz was a Chicago Cubs and Bears fan, enjoyed fishing, hunting, and listening to music legends like Bruce Springsteen, James Taylor, and Bob Seger.
His graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, November 4, 2016 at War Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Pekin, where military rites will be accorded by the United States Army and Tazewell Military Rites Team. A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. Friday at the Hanna City United Methodist Church. The Rev. Jeremy Lafary will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service from 3 to 5 p.m. Friday at the church.
