G. Edward Schwinn, Jr.

Born May 4, 1938 in Peoria to Gottfried E. and Mildred (Carter) Schwinn, Sr., he married Virginia Smith on February 25, 1962 in Peoria. She survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Christine (Derek) Hamm of Hanna City; two sons, Ed Schwinn of Pekin and Steve (Sherry) Schwinn of Marquette Heights; and four grandchildren, Patrick and Conner Schwinn and Drake and Brock Hamm.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Ed had worked in maintenance for Evonik (Witco), retiring in 1999 after over forty years of service.

He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and enjoyed playing softball in church leagues. He was a saxophone state champion in high school and was part of the Manual High School marching band. He also liked camping and fishing.

His funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. The Rev. Samuel T. Gibb will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Prairie Haven Cemetery in Pekin.
