

Born February 3, 1937 in Pekin to James and Ethlyn (Shaw) Gardiner, he married Diane Ball on January 9, 1957 in Brookville, Indiana.
Surviving are his wife; three sons, Kenneth and Bradley (Colleen) Gardiner, both of Pekin, and Scott Gardiner of Phoenix, Arizona; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, William Gardiner of Pekin; and two sisters, Doris DeVault and Donna Hoehn, both of Pekin.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a great-grandson; one brother; and one sister.
George had served in the United States Air Force.
He worked for Caterpillar, Inc. for 31 years, retiring in 1994 as a painter.
A member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1869 and the William Schaefer Post #44 American Legion, both in Pekin, he was also a fan of NASCAR, the Chicago Cubs, and the the Chicago Bears.
Cremation will be accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
A celebration of Life Gathering will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, June 10th at the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1869, 274 Derby Street in Pekin.
