

Born July 4, 1937 in Peoria to Hartford and Leona Margaret (Myers) Kammerer, he married Judith “Judi” Smith on May 27, 1961 in Peoria. She survives.
Surviving are his wife of 63 years; one son, Brian Kammerer of Pekin; one grandson, Jonathan Kammerer of Manito; one granddaughter, Natalie Kammerer of Manito and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Kenneth Kammerer and one sister, Doris Jean Antonio.
Jerry was a veteran of the United States Army serving from 1955 to 1958.
He worked for Keystone Wire & Steel Co. in Bartonville for 35-plus years retiring on April 24, 1996.
An avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan and closet Pittsburg Steelers fan, Jerry enjoyed all sports, fishing, hunting deer and camping. He was collector of baseball and football cards and sports memorabilia.
Jerry is now doing his forever walks with his faithful dog, Wrigley.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 17, 2024 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon at Ipava Cemetery in Ipava. Military honors will be provided by the United States Army and the Ipava American Legion Post 17.
