

Born May 28, 1923, aboard a cabin boat on the Illinois River at Pekin to William and Laura (Beimfohr) Maloney, he married Maxine R. Murphy on May 31, 1947, in Pekin. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, Michael J. (Cynthia) Maloney of Pekin; one daughter, Jill E. Schwalm of Canton; two granddaughters, Melissa L. (Billy) Vestal and Ashley M. Schwalm, both of Canton and one great-granddaughter, Charlotte Rose Vestal of Canton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Herod Maloney and James William Maloney and one sister, Alberta Bodie.
A World War II Marine Corps. Veteran, he served 34months in the Pacific Theater and attained the rank of sergeant. He was a charter member of The Defenders of Midway Island and of Tobin-Nanninga Marine Corps League Detachment 085 in Pekin. He was proud to have volunteered supervising the construction of the Tazewell County Veterans Memorial at the Courthouse.
He was a 50-year member of Ironworkers Local 112 in East Peoria, where he was the recording secretary for 35 years. He worked out of the local as a longtime construction superintendent for V. Jobst & Sons.
He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 916 in Pekin and a former member of Sunset Hills Country Club in Pekin.
Jerry was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Pekin.
Jerry enjoyed fishing, bowling and woodworking. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Bears and Illini fan. He was also a dog lover.
His funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, April 24, 2008at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Gary L. Ford will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2008at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Pekin, with military rites accorded by the United States Marine Corps. and the Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team.
