Born December 21, 1918 in Tazewell County to Dede R. and Amelia C. (Schmidt) Weiland, she married Ervin D. Claton on September 21, 1938. He died June 22, 1975. She later married Oscar Fornoff on August 2, 1977. He died April 8, 2001. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Clell and Richard Weiland and one sister, Clara Tebben.
Surviving are two daughters, Bonnie Beck of Pekin and Sharon Collison of Holcombe, Wisconsin; three grandchildren, Lisa (Scott) Burgess of Danville, Jennifer (Joe) Corrigan of Seattle, Washington and Clarence Collison of Holcombe, Wisconsin; and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by the family of Marilyn (Fornoff) Kenney and nieces and nephews who provided loving support.
A farm wife and homemaker, Grace loved driving the tractors, mowing, gardening, and watching the birds, especially her jenny wrens. Her loved ones all knew she collected cardinals.
In retirement, she enjoyed traveling, snowmobiling, coloring, puzzling, and reading.
Grace was a lifetime member of St. John’s (Sand Prairie) Lutheran Church in rural Green Valley.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, October 1, 2021 at St. John’s (Sand Prairie) Lutheran Church in rural Green Valley. Pastor Chris Sansom and DCE Bill Krueger will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:15 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
