H. "Joe" Joseph Garnett

Born November 25, 1953 in St. Louis, Missouri to Howard and Mary (Albright) Garnett. He was adopted and raised by Fred and Glenda Albright, who he loved dearly. He married Sue Anderson on July 4, 1975 in Peoria. She survives.

Also surviving are two children, Shawn (Carrie) Garnett and Carissa (Lyle) Newell, both of Pekin; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; six siblings, Barb (John) Hogate of Escandido, California, Fred (Vickie) Albright and Kathy Meeks, both of Pekin, Clinton (Pat) Albright of Fort Myers, Florida and Becky (Mark) Nance and Mark (Jill) Albright, both of East Peoria.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Joyce Fowler.

Joe was a veteran of the United States Navy.

He worked for the postal service for 40 years at various post offices last serving as Post Master in Canton, retiring in January 2012.

Joe was a member of Grace Fellowship of Groveland, where he served as Associate Pastor for many years.

A celebration of Joe’s life will be at 12 p.m. Monday, September 5, 2022 at Grace Fellowship of Groveland. Pastor Bob Martin, Pastor Jim Schriener and Pastor Clint Albright will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
