Harold W Barney

Born August 14, 1923 in Pekin to Harry and Kitty (Brants) Barney, he married Violet Brandt on January 30, 1949 in Tremont. She died January 12, 1996 in Peoria. Also preceding him in death are his parents and one sister.

Surviving are four daughters, Lonne (Ed) Vespa of Pekin, Linda (Dallas) Augustine of Argyle, WI, Kristie (Dennis) Price of Pekin and Pamela (Kevin) Stuff of Pekin; one son, Dennis (Chris) Barney of Morton; four grandchildren, Brian (Amy) Barney, Ben Stuff, Hank Stuff and Michelle (Paul) Switzer; three great-grandchildren, Lexi, Zoey, Quinn and his longtime companion, Lily Gottman.

He had served in the United States Army during World War II in the 82nd Airborne Division in the European Theatre.

Harold had worked for Tazewell Machine Works in Pekin for 44 years, retiring in 1985 as a maintenance foreman.

Private family services will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
