Helen I Pettit

Born November 27, 1924 in Murrayville to Thomas and Ilene (Harmon) Burns, she married Marvin M. "Dutch" Pettit on February 19, 1946 in Bloomington. He died May 31, 2003 in Beaver, Utah. She also was preceded in death by one infant daughter, two brothers and three sisters.

Surviving are one son, Donald D. (Joyce) Pettit of Beaver, Utah; two daughters, Mary Ann (Bob) Cordes of Hawk Junction, Ontario, Canada and Donna Auten of Pekin; five grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren and one brother, Ed (Arlene) Burns of Bartonville.

A homemaker, Helen worked for Pekin Community High School District 303 for 10 years in the cafeteria.

She enjoyed reading, walking and working puzzles. She also liked playing checkers with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In younger years, she enjoyed playing roller hockey.

She was a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin.

Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday, November 26, 2007at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. Father W. Patrick Fixsen will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the funeral. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
