

Born November 20, 1915 in Carlinville to William and Melissa (Tostberg) Wolters, he married Elberta M. Welch on November 21, 1942 in West Palm Beach, FL. She died on December 23, 2012 in Pekin. He was also preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Melissa Powell; one great-grandson and two brothers, Wilfred and Edwin Wolters.
Surviving are two sons, Larry D. (Connie) Wolters of Pekin, Bruce D. (Linda) Wolters of Titusville, FL; nine grandchildren, Rene (Joe) Norris of Coal City, Brett (Sheree) Wolters, Bryce Wolters of Titusville, Jason Wolters of Titusville, Brooke Bloomquist of Winnebago,IL, Dean Powell of Las Vegas, Tami (Blake) Olt of Dunlap, Kim Evans of Pekin, Cindy (Bryon) Muehlberger of Santa Clarita, CA and ten great-grandchildren.
Hank had served in the United States Army during World War II in the European Theater as a Radar Repairman. He had landed on Omaha Beach 3 days after D-Day. He was the recipient of the Silver Battle Star and 5 Bronze Service Stars.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Pekin where he had held several church offices. He was a former Sunday School Superintendent, Trustee and Elder. He had also been a member of the Senior League and Church Couples League. He was a former member of Zion Lutheran Church in Carlinville.
Hank worked as a Sales Manager from 1957 until 1980 for Ag-Land FS, formerly known as Tazewell Service Company, Pekin. He had previously worked from 1940 – 1957 for Macoupin County in Carlinville as a petroleum salesman.
He was a member of the William Schaefer American Legion Post 44 and a former member of the American Legion, Guy Baird Post #554 in Carlinville. He was a member of the Tazewell County Farm Bureau, a former member of the Pekin Elks Lodge #1271 where he was an avid bowler. Hank had also served as a scout master for several years with the Boy Scouts.
Hank enjoyed hunting and fishing with friends.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 3, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Pekin. The Rev. Dr. Rodger P. Abatie will officiate. Visitation will be from 10 until 10:45 a.m. Saturday at the church. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in Mayfield Cemetery in Carlinville. Military honors will be provided by the United States Army and the American Legion, Guy Baird Post #554. Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
