Hugh Calvin Heath

EAST PEORIA ~ Hugh Calvin Heath, 77, a 58 year resident of East Peoria, passed away at 9:05 a.m. Sunday, February 27, 2011 at his residence.Born November 9, 1933 in Holland, KY to Hugh Ellis and Avie Mae (Pippin) Heath, he married Donna Jean Heisel on October 27, 1957 in Creve Coeur.  She survives.Also surviving are one son, Thomas C. (Sandra) Heath of Creve Coeur; one daughter, Patricia J. "Patty" (Gary) Lynn of St. Petersburg, FL; three step-grandchildren, Jeremiah McDowell, William McDowell, both of Norwood and Allison (Jacob) Detrempe of Washington; two step-great-grandchildren, Gage Detrempe and Dexter Detrempe; and one brother, Jim Heath of Wasola, MO.He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Edward C. Heath and one infant sister, Donna Heath.Cal worked for Caterpillar, Inc. for 33 years, retiring as an inspector in the foundry in 1985.  While at Caterpillar, he was a member of the American Foundrymen's Society.  He enjoyed working on cars and formerly worked part-time for 150 Autobody in East Peoria.He was a member of Hilton Lodge #1143, Ancient Free & Accepted Masons in East Peoria, the Hanna City Sportsmen Club and the United Auto Workers Local 974 in East Peoria.  He was a former member of Mohammed Temple, Shrine and the Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Peoria.Cal loved to fish and liked hunting and gardening.  He also enjoyed camping and ballroom dancing.  He was an avid Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan, sometimes causing rivalry with two brothers-in-law. He was a member of Bethel Memorial United Church of Christ in Creve Coeur, where he enjoyed ushering.His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday March3, 2011 at Bethel Memorial United Church of Christ in Creve Coeur.  The Rev. Paul B. Isom will officiate.  Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur.  Additional visitation will be from 9 to 9:45 a.m. on Thursday at the church.  Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.  Memorial contributions may be made to his church, 201 South Main Street, Creve Coeur, IL 61610.
