

Born July 25, 1932 in Pike County to Lowell and Sylvina (Tipsword) Guthrie, he married Verda L. Young on April 29, 1956 at Pleasant Hill.
Surviving are three daughters, Cynthia K. (Terry) Bratcher, Vickie K. (Robert) Pickerill and Sheryle L. Fernandez, all of Pekin; one son, Rick Guthrie of East Alton; one step-daughter, Ella Printy of Pekin; two step-sons, Richard (Brenda) Trout of Delavan and Michael (Regina) Trout of San Jose; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three sisters, Phyllis ("Cotton") Daniels of Hartford, Wanda Stover of Gilbert, Arizona and Joyce Smith of East Alton; one brother, Danny (Mary) Guthrie of Pearl and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister and two brothers.
Irvin served in the United States Navy from August 23, 1950 to June 22, 1954.
He worked for Caterpillar, Inc. for 32 years, retiring in 1987 from parts distribution in Morton.
Irvin liked to hunt and fish and was a longtime member of a hunting and fishing club in Victoria. He also formerly enjoyed playing baseball. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. His memorial service will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, February 16, 2008at First United Methodist Church in Pekin. The Rev. Terry C. Edele and Rev. Judy Doyle will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the service Saturday at the church. Cremation will be accorded. Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel.
