

Born February 11, 1955 in Peoria to Jack Roland and Doris Ann (Nash) Hinderliter, he married Debra K. Nash on August 14, 1971 in Peoria. She survives.
Also surviving are three sons, James Michael Hinderliter, Joshua Robert Hinderliter and Jack Andrew Hinderliter, all of Pekin; five grandchildren, Layla Hinderliter, Chelsea Hinderliter, Kaylee Hinderliter, Jacob Hinderliter and Jordan Hinderliter, all of Pekin and one half-sister, Kathy Melvin of Globe, Arizona.
His parents preceded him in death.
Jay worked for Morton Metalcraft Company for 10 years, last working as an inspector in quality control in March of 2006. He previously worked out of Laborers Local 231 in Pekin.
An avid music lover and collector, Jay was an amateur musician playing the drums and the harmonica. He loved to fish and being outdoors.
"Pappy" was beloved by family, friends and especially his grandchildren, who will all miss him greatly. He was the best storyteller and playmate.
Jay attended First Baptist Church in Pekin.
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 20, 2007at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. Pastor Mark D. Friday will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, January 19, 2007at the funeral home. Cremation will be accorded following the funeral.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to an education fund for Jacob Hinderliter in care of CEFCU.
