

Born November 8, 1955 in Pekin to James Edward and Peggy Marie (Schaefer) King, he married Rebecca Ann Gaetz on January 17, 1981. They later divorced and remained friends.
Surviving are one son, Christopher (Heather) King of North Pekin; one granddaughter, Sierra King of North Pekin; three siblings, John King, Julie Hamm and Jen King, all of Pekin; five nieces and nephews, Bryce and Devin King, Vanessa and Don Schorr, II and William Hamm and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Jim never met a stranger and was loved and cared for by many.
A jack-of-all-trades, Jim worked as a carpenter and mechanic.
Jim was a longtime accomplished drummer in the local music scene and will be remembered for his heavy playing and long solos. He was also very active in the biker community.
An outdoorsman and survivalist, Jim was also a fisherman. He loved going four wheeling in his Jeep and ATVs with his friends and son. He was a free spirit that could never be tied down, leaving a lifetime of memories.
A gathering celebrating Jungle Jim’s life will be at 12p Saturday, August 6, 2022 at Spring Bay American Legion Post 1115, 500 Legion Lane, East Peoria, IL 61611. Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
