Born August 14, 1948 in Pekin to Clyde Leland and Mary Ann (Sidell) Sarnes, she married Verlyn L. “Butch” Williams, Jr. She then married Jimmy DeFrates. She later married Michael Thomas Griffin. He died July 14, 2020 in Longview, Texas. Her parents also preceded her in death.
Surviving are one daughter, Vanessa (Dale) Reynolds of Pekin; two sons, Richard Griffin and Edwin (Tina) Williams, both of Pekin; two granddaughters, Misha Spencer and Faith Williams; one great-grandson, Kaden Spencer; one sister, Vivian Diveley of Marquette Heights; one nephew and two nieces.
Janet was an avid bowler back in the day and loved family trips taken to see national landmarks. She will be remembered for her outgoing and adventurous spirit and as someone who loved to shop.
A celebration of life gathering will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, December 16, 2023 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Cremation has been accorded.
