Born on July 1,1971, at Naval Air Station Point Mugu, California, he was the son of Paul & Kristy (Smith) Englert. Jeremy married Jamie Burley on October 22, 2005, in Pekin. She survives.
Jeremy is survived by his children Greyson and Mercy Englert; his parents Paul and Kristy Englert; his sister Keri (Dave Pond) Englert; his parents-in-law Arnie and Nancy Burley; his sister-in-law Tisha Petrik; his brother-in-law Corey (Marilyn) Burley; several nieces and nephews: Alexa Johnson; Cassandra (Madison) Winiarczyk; Joshua Petrik; Joseph Petrik; Allie (Tyler) Bennett; Katie (Jon Hawes) Grafer; Blake Burley and Matthew Burley; and many friends he considered family.
For the past 25 years, Jeremy worked as a service advisor at Mike Murphy Ford in Morton. During his time there, he was fortunate to work with a great community of coworkers and customers, many of whom became friends.
Jeremy was not the usual outgoing kind. At first glance, his quiet and reserved nature could seem unapproachable—but those who took the time to know him discovered a loyal, witty, and trustworthy man. He was a steadfast ally and a fierce protector, always ready with a quick comeback and a mischievous grin. Jeremy loved to tease, and his playful banter was his unique way of showing affection—his way of saying you were someone he cared about.
Jeremy was an avid hockey fan—“Let’s go Blues!” His passion for the sport deepened when his son, Greyson, began skating at age six and hockey quickly became part of the Englert family’s DNA. Jeremy embraced his role as a hockey dad with enthusiasm and heart. He loved cheering on the boys and never hesitated to vocalize his thoughts on the officiating—you always knew when Jeremy was in the stands.
The family traveled across the Midwest to support his son’s games, creating lasting memories and building strong bonds with their hockey family. Jeremy’s presence, humor, and unwavering support left a lasting impression both on and off the ice.
Jeremy had a lifelong love for cars and motorcycles, spending countless hours building, restoring and bringing them back to life. He could fix just about anything and always had a project ‘in-the-works’. Known for his generous spirit and willingness to help, he was the go-to person for most everything—from home repairs and broken hockey sticks to handmade signs and bracelets. Jeremy’s gift for art was most alive in the creative moments he shared with his daughter, Mercy. Jeremy never hesitated—no task was ever too big, not even his wife’s most ambitious ideas— his heart was always all in.
Above all else, Jeremy was a man who lived for his family. They knew they were his number one, always. He worked hard every single day to take care of those he loved. He often fell asleep in his work uniform, exhausted from all he did that day. Jeremy was the true definition of a family man, showing love through quiet sacrifice and unwavering dedication. For all he gave, his family is better, stronger, and forever grateful. Though they will never think it was long enough, his family will always thank God for the time they got to keep him as their own. His love will remain a lasting gift they will carry in their hearts, always.
A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes and Crematory in Pekin. Visitation will be 2 hours prior. The family invites you to come as you are. You are also invited to share a written memory of your time with Jeremy—a gift his family will cherish forever.
Memorial gifts may be made to the Jeremy Englert Memorial Fund, established at Morton Community Bank, created to benefit the future of his children.
