

Born December 15, 1949 in Springfield to Harvey J. and Violet L. (Bradshaw) Payne, he married Theresa Diane Leitner on February 14, 1968 in Hannibal, MO. She survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Tina K. (Jerry) Lowe of Pekin; one son, Jerry E. (Debbie) Payne of Galva; five grandchildren, Jerry (Melinda Sutton) Lowe, Jr. of Pekin, Alex Mortensen of Manito, Ashley (Adam) Smith, Samantha (Andy McAdam) Matuszyk and Jacob Matuszyk, all of Galva; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Gary (Nina) Payne of Winfield, MO and Ronnie Payne of Pekin and three sisters, Judy Ybarra of Texas, Nancy McAdams of Peoria and Linda (Bill) Lutes of Chillicothe. He also leaves Brandi Haynes, who was his late grandson’s fiancé, who was special to Jerry.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson, Brian Lowe.
Jerry worked for Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin as their grounds superintendent for 22 years. He then worked 8 years as a loader/operator for Cornick Concrete at their gravel pit in rural Pekin, last working on December 18, 2009.
Jerry liked to fish and his 1941 Ford was his hobby. He also took pride in taking care of his yard.
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 17, 2013 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Mark D. Friday will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the funeral. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
