

Born March 8, 1951 in La Crosse, Wisconsin to Paul and Nina (Aspenson) Payne, he married Norma Jean Johnson on June 10, 1972 in Urbana.
Surviving are his wife; two sons, Paul Payne of Pekin and Temron “T.J.” (Angela) Payne of Washington; three grandchildren, Frances Payne, Gavin Duez, and Aiden Payne; one step-granddaughter, Haley Fleckenstein; four sisters, Linda (David) Miles, Mary (Larry) Iverson, Jan Payne, and Wanda (Mark) Patzner; four brothers, Tom (Donna) Payne, Mike (Darlene) Payne, Jeff Payne, and Randy (Connie) Nagel; three step-sisters, Rachel (Stan) Breuer, Donna (Dale) DeGroot, and Delose Goodrich; nine step-brothers, Jerry (Brenda) Nagel, David (Marla) Nagel, Myron (Diane) Nagel, Willie (Arlene) Nagel, Tim (Tammy) Nagel, Ronnie (JoAnne) Nagel, Eddie (Nola) Nagel, Charles (JoAnn) Nagel, and Terry Joe (Tonya) Nagel; and sister-in-law, Kathy Payne.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Lester “Pat” Nagel; two brothers, Donald Payne and Norman Paul Payne; one step-brother, Gordon Nagel; and one step-sister, Sandy Goodrich.
Jerry served in the United States Air Force from 1970 to 1977. He later served in the Air National Guard from 1978 to 1997.
He was a member of the Glasford American Legion Post #35 and the Glasford Optimist Club.
Jerry enjoyed fishing, working on cars, and watching NASCAR. He was a Green Bay Packers fan.
His graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 5, 2013 at Prairie Haven Cemetery in Pekin. The Rev. Judy Doyle will officiate and military rites will be accorded. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
