

Born September 13, 1935 in Niles, Michigan to Richard and Minnie Sue (Bonner) Reid, she married Billy G. Snell on October 18, 1953 in Pekin. He died April 11, 2014 in Morton. She also was preceded in death by her parents.
Surviving are two sons, David (Donna) Snell of Peoria and Larry (Theresa) Snell of Pekin; one daughter, Jill (Charles, II) Miller of Lebanon, Tennessee; eight grandchildren, Andrew Snell of Pekin, Natalie (Amy) Wheeler of St. Louis, Ryan (Jennifer) Snell of Chicago, Charles (Letitia) Miller, III of Smyrna, Georgia, Amanda (Josh) Nettles of Kannapolis, North Carolina, Sarah (Adam) Scoles of Cookeville, Tennessee, Katie (Chad) Grandell of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee and Jonathan (Angela) Miller of Lebanon, Tennessee; six great-grandchildren and one brother, Charles (Nancy) Reid of Cottonwood, Arizona. Joan was looking forward to the birth of three more great-grandchildren, one in May, one in June and one in August.
A homemaker most of her life, Joan did work as a realtor, as a receptionist at the telephone company and also as a receptionist at a dental office in Pekin. She also had formerly worked as a sales person at Garrett Jewelry in Pekin Mall.
Joan was an active member of the Church of Christ in Pekin, where she loved to sing. She also enjoyed crocheting.
Her memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Her sons will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the memorial service. Inurnment will follow the service in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
