Joann Swift

YORKVILLE ~ Joann “Annie” Swift, nee Gettman, 88, of Cedarhurst Assisted Living, Yorkville, formerly of Pekin, passed away at 7:30 p.m. Friday, December 10, 2021 at Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora.

Born December 5, 1933 in Pekin to George and Irene (Herbig) Gettman, she married Richard “Dick” Swift on September 13, 1952 in Peoria. He preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Shirley Goeken; her brother, William Gettman; and her grandson, Chris Taylor.

Surviving are one daughter, Carrie (Keith Guard) Swift of Plano, Illinois; one grandson, Nick Caldarone; and two great-grandchildren, Everette and Stanley Taylor.

Joann worked at Pekin Prescription Lab before becoming a full-time homemaker, where she enjoyed sewing for her family and friends, volunteering at Pekin Hospital and especially playing cards. She became an avid golfer later in life, much to Dick’s delight and made many dear friends at Sunset Hills Country Club.

Joann and Dick enjoyed spending the cold Illinois months in Florida for many years.

No services will be held at this time. Cremation arrangements are by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
