I just wanted to drop a note to all saying thank you for your thoughts and prayers during this enormous loss for myself and family. In my case the loss was made easier knowing that Dad went to be with the lord as he always taught me. He worked so hard all his life to insure we had food, shelter and a love of the lord Jesus Christ. He died peacefully in his sleep Sunday April 1st, no reaction, his heart just stopped beating. What a great gift for Dad, we should all be so lucky. Sometimes death is a gift, this is an example of one. 
 
I was blessed with great parents, and his loss although is devastating emotionally is accepted as part of life, and life moves on. What he instilled in his children who by the way all know the lord Jesus as personal savior, is nothing short of a miracle in my opinion. Though I had ups and downs in my person life, times where I strayed from the church only to find emptiness, in all that time, I never lost my faith nurtured by my folks.  
 
I am sure many can relate to this type of loss, and I want to thank you for being there for the whole family, if only in sprit and prayer. Prayer is so important to me, I stayed after all the family had left to stay with my Mom in hopes making the transition easier. It did some good, and we prayed every night in my folks living room. Our prayer and faith helped us get through this tragic loss, and sustains us today. I am so proud of my Mom the way she carried herself under this tremendous load, and so thankful to the lord for the gift of an easy death for such a good family man. You know he was most proud of being called "family man" and he was! 
 
As you can imagine, this is a tremendous loss to a son who loved his Dad so much. My father was such a good father, husband, and provider. He played baseball with me in the early days, he took me fishing whenever we go the chance, which we both loved to do. Later in life we grew closer and we became good friends as well, never losing the sight of what a special man God had given me for a father. 
 
As many do, there were times when we were young I thought he was crazy, you know the typical stuff a teenager feels, yet I never lost respect for my father who was a Born again Christian for the past 65 years. My Dad was a Member of the Liberty Baptist Church in Pekin, Illinois for close to 50 years, and before that a member of North Benton Baptist church in Benton, Illinois where he grew up. If you asked most people to describe my father it would be as "a good man" "nice man" "loving father".  I am so thankful to the lord Jesus Christ for giving me such a wonderful set of parents, no man could be luckier. 
 
If not for my Dad, I think I could call myself a less of a man today. I always wanted to be like him, I loved it when he taught me how to do anything, like working on car engines, or woodworking. He had such a disarming quality about him that anyone meeting him would see immediately. In my early thirties I wasn't the best of persons, nothing really bad, but I could have been better, and no matter what I did, above all, I didn't want to disappoint my father, I would have been so ashamed. He taught me what it means to be humble, I admire him for being a believer and a man of God. 
 
Well I could go on and on, but sometimes rambling on clears the heart of all those pent up feelings. Keep my Dad Joseph E West in your prayers, my Mom Betty J West, and my brothers Jim, Mike and Kristi West along with each of our family's. Inclusion all i can say is Praise the lord!  


I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I remember Joe's friendly smile and how welcoming he was at Liberty. You were all very nice to me and I have always kept you in my thoughts. My sympathy is with you and your families at this time.

So sorry to hear of Joe`s passing. My father, Croak Gardner and him worked together at the street dept. Most certainly the streets in Heaven have another good worker to join my dad. May you have comfort in knowing, you are in my familys thought and prayers at this time. Char

Jim, we were saddened to learn of your dad's death.  May you and your family experience the peace and comfort that only our Lord Jesus Christ can provide.  I know He will see you through this difficult time.  Remember...it is not good-bye; it is see ya later as some day you will be reunited in Heaven. Jim & Family,  Please know that we are praying for you all.  You will see your Dad again.  It is the comfort that not only you believe, but also you preach!  Your Dad is truly enjoying life eternal and  is living a life "happily ever after!"  I know God will comfort you in this time as you remember the  relationship you had with your father. We will be praying for your entire family during this time of grief.  We know Mike and Barb from our flock group in the past, and know Kristi from the worship team at Christ Fellowship.  They are a testament to their father, as they are warm, caring people who live out their faith.  We have been blessed to know them and pray that God's peace will be with them.

We are very sorry for your family's loss!  We know Kristi from Christ Fellowship and she is so special.  We will be praying for all of you during this difficult time!
