Joyce M Newell

Born April 20, 1927 in Pekin to Jules and Emma (Zanolli) Maquet, she married Charles Wesley Newell on October 2, 1948 in Pekin. Together they enjoyed 67 years of marriage.

Surviving are her husband; one son, Charles W. (Peggy) Newell, Jr. of Bellevue; one daughter, Debbie (David) Yount of Creve Coeur; five grandchildren, Sandy Newell, Charlie Scheafer, Christopher (Lindsey) Scheafer, Brandon Newell and Chelsea Newell and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters and two brothers.

Joyce last worked as a school bus driver for Peoria District 150 and for Peoria Charter in East Peoria for many years.

She enjoyed camping and square dancing and was a member of the Squares on Wheels, the Good Sam Camping Club and the Coachmen Camping Club. Joyce formerly bowled in East Peoria and loved going to yard sales in the summertime and playing bingo.

Joyce loved life to the fullest and truly enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren.

Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 12, 2015 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Josh Beutow of Grace Baptist Church in Tremont will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Pekin.
