

PEKIN ~ Julia Olive Lercher, 89, formerly of 309 Lakeside, Apartment C, passed away at 6:40 p.m. Thursday, January 31, 2008 at Pekin Manor.Born May 18, 1918 in Cornland to Rufus and Edna (Phares) Arney, she married George Edward Lercher on September 1, 1941 in Cornland. He died April 20, 1990. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Joe Arney and Vern Arney.Surviving are one daughter, Barbara L. (Bill Webster) Lercher of Lincoln; one son, William E. (Rebecca) Lercher of Pekin; two grandchildren, James E. (Amanda) Lercher of Pekin and Diana L. (Donnie) Uselton of Green Valley; four great-grandchildren, Mackenzie K. Lercher, Alexis Rivas, Caleb A. Uselton, and Kyle W. Uselton; and one sister-in-law, Allene Arney of Buffalo, Illinois.Julia worked as a sales associate for both Kresge's andJupiter, and retired from Kmart in Pekin where she worked at the service desk. She worked for a total of 25 years.She was a charter member of Parkway Christian Church in Pekin, where she was a member of the Hearth Tenders of the church, and former Sunday school teacher and Bible school teacher. She was a former member of Creve Coeur Christian Church and Cornland Christian Church. She had volunteered at Washington Christian Village for many years.Julia enjoyed serving her church and being with her family.Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday, February 4,2008atParkway Christian Church in Pekin. Pastor Andrew Ramey will officiate. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Constant Cemetery in Buffalo Hart.Memorial contributions may be made to Parkway Christian Church, 2221 North parkway Drive, Pekin, IL 61554 or Cornland Christian Church, Cornland, IL.
