

Born February 1, 1943 in Peoria to Harold Melvin and Mildred L. (Miller) Carpentier, he married Kathleen Sue “Kathy” Howland on December 10, 1977 in Chillicothe. She survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Jeff (Donna) Carpentier and Kenneth “Hootie” (Gena) Carpentier, Jr., both of Peoria, and Donivan Carpentier of Galesburg; two daughters, Michele (Brian) Graves of Creve Coeur and Sue (Chris) Rees of Plainville; eighteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; one sister, June Carpentier of Pekin; and four brothers, Bob (Betty) Carpentier of Dunfermline, Bill (Dorothy) Carpentier of Cullman, Alabama, and Charles “Ike” Carpentier and Tom Carpentier, both of Peoria.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one grandson, one sister, and four brothers.
Kenny worked as a welder at J.T. Fennell and Company in Peoria for 12 years, retiring in 2005. Previously, he was the operations manager at the Peoria Civic Center for many years.
An avid hunter, Kenny enjoyed watching sports, wrestling, and NASCAR. He was a fan of Dale Earnhardt, Jr. Kenny had a special place in his heart for his children and grandchildren and spent as much time as he could with them.
A service celebrating Kenny’s life will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 11, 2013 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory, 405 Rusche Avenue, Creve Coeur. The Rev. John Plunkett will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Private burial will at Chillicothe City Cemetery in Chillicothe.
