

He was born June 21, 1949 in Chicago to Oliver L. and Rutha (LaFlore) Brooks.
Surviving are his mother of Denver, CO; four daughters, Felicia (Mario) Haywood of South Haven, MS, Raquel (Kevin) Turner, Lakiysha Stamps and Pneurissa Stamps, all of Chicago; six grandsons, Germany Clark of Chicago, Mario Haywood of South Haven, MS, Kevin Turner of Bolingbrook, Jalyn Turner, Tory Turner and Jakarri Adell, all of Chicago; one granddaughter, Kiyasis Davis of Chicago; one great grandson, Kevin Turner of Chicago; three brothers, Oliver Brooks of Chicago, Wayne Brooks of Kansas, Lonnie Brooks of Chicago; four sisters, Fannie Brooks of Crownpoint, IN, Deborah Brooks, Terry Brooks, both of Bolingbrook, Ora "Lean" Brooks of Hammond, IN; caregivers, Sabrina Brooks, Jaydah Green, Earl Dismang and Tommy "B Bop" Johnson all of Peoria and several other nieces and nephews.
Larry was preceded in death by his father; one brother, Alvin Brooks and one sister, Juanita Stephans.
He was a United States Army veteran serving in Viet Nam.
Larry had worked in security for Illinois Security Services, Inc. in Chicago until his retirement in 2011.
An avid Chicago sports fan, Larry loved barbequing and spending time with his friends.
Cremation has been accorded. A celebration of Larry's life will be held at a later date in Chicago. Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
