

Born November 13, 1944 in Peoria to Percy and Pearl (Plotner) Byrd, he married Penny Ann Ziemer on August 31, 1969 in Creve Coeur. She survives.
Also surviving are five children, Tammy (Rick) Hyatt of Pekin, Larry (Jenny) Byrd of South Pekin, Doreen (Tim) Mussleman of Metamora, Jill (Al) Moore of Normal, and Mike Belville of Macomb; seventeen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one brother, Terry (Barb) Byrd of Pekin; and five sisters, Doris (Chuck) Fredrick of Tremont, Delores Byrd, Donna (Jay) Wilcoxen, and Barb (John) Crumb, all of Canton, and Lois Leal of Ontario, California.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Robert Byrd; and two sisters, Ruth Scott and Norma Baxter.
Larry had worked at Caterpiller, Inc., City of Pekin as a garbage man, Morton High School as a custodian, and later at Hanna Steel in Pekin. He last owned and operated B & B Home Improvements.
Larry enjoyed bowling, going mushrooming, working outdoors, and his animals.
A gathering celebrating Larry’s life will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 27, 2016 at the Avanti’s Restaurant in Pekin.
Arrangements are by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
