

Larry was born on December 24, 1941, in Quitman, Arkansas, to Rube and Mamie (Huddleston) Phillips. He married Betty Lou Sea on January 23, 1963, in Pekin, and they shared many years together until her passing on October 26, 2009. He was also preceded in death by his parents; his adopted mother, Jewell (Wilson) Phillips; and one brother, Harlon Phillips.
Larry is survived by two half-brothers, John (Joyce) Phillips of Lewistown and Rodney (Betty) Phillips of Peoria; and one half-sister, Letty Frint of Dunnellon, Florida.
Larry proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. After his service, he worked for Corn Products for 20 years as an Assistant Engineer. He was a member of God & Country Church of Pekin and lived his life with faith and dedication.
Since 2010, Larry made his home with Mike and Tammy Jackson, where he became a beloved part of their family. He especially enjoyed spending time with their kids and grandkids, who brought joy and laughter into his days. Larry also loved baking, and his cheesecakes and pies were a favorite among friends. He was a loyal St. Louis Cardinals fan, had a fondness for old cars, and enjoyed fishing, small engine repairs, and working on clocks.
Larry will be remembered for his kind heart, his sense of humor, and the special memories he shared with family and friends.
His funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Jim Dawson will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior. Burial will follow at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
