He was born December 27, 1938 in Pekin to Floyd and Nellie (Armstrong) Thomas.
Surviving are two daughters, Becky (Matt) Wood of Pekin and Veda (Andy) Dowell of Green Valley; one son, Larry (Angie) Thomas, Jr. of Wilmer, Alabama; 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sharon Rockhold of Pekin and Susie Thomas of Lincoln; and three brothers, Glenn (Sue) Armstrong of Canton, Robert (Evonne) Armstrong and David Armstrong, both of Pekin.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Betty Johnson.
Larry retired from Caterpillar, Inc. in Mapleton in 1991 after thirty years of service, working in the foundry as a core dipper.
He was an avid outdoorsman and a lifetime member of Ducks Unlimited. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping.
A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. There will be no funeral service.Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
