Linda Slater

Born August 19, 1940 in Blandinsville to Jewell E. and Eula L. (Lane) Sanders, she married Ronald George Slater on May 2, 1959 in Peoria. He died November 24, 2010 in Canton. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers, Paul Lane, Bob Sanders and Floyd Sanders.

Surviving are two daughters, Penny Lynn Calloway of Pekin and Jill Marie Slater of East Peoria; and four grandchildren, Jeff (Wendy) Cunningham of Laura, Austin Calloway, Jr. of Pekin, John Hackney of East Peoria and Cody Myers of Pekin; four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Linda worked at Kroger’s in Washington for 32 years, retiring in 1995.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Linda enjoyed crafting, painting and making jewelry.

Linda had a beautiful voice and loved to sing.

She was a member of Landmark Baptist Church in Peoria.

Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Brian Crocker will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
