Lora Jean Zessin

Born January 31, 1948 in Springfield to Loren and Shirley (Lynch) Zessin, She married Dr. Stephen Pearson on August 13, 1982 in Kewaunee, Wisconsin. He survives.

Also surviving are her daughters, Amelia (Steven) Williams and Julia (Cameron Dall) Pearson; grandchildren, Austin Williams, Maria Williams and Jordan Williams; two sisters, Nancy Johnson and Wanda Schussele and one brother, Ken Zessin.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two grandchildren, Ryan Williams and Emily Williams.

Lora was a graduate of Illinois State University class of 1970.

She taught special education for 34 years at Richland School District in Wisconsin retiring in 2004.

In her free time Lora enjoyed quilting and crocheting. She had a soft spot for dogs. Lora was a singer, played the flute and loved music. She was a loving and kind person who dedicated her life to helping others. She was an incredibly supportive and uplifting person. She loved the earth and made efforts to preserve nature for future generations.

She was a member of the Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church in Pekin.

Her memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 29, 2023 at Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church in Pekin. Father Jonathan Butcher will officiate. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday evening at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
