

Born December 11, 1937 in Glasford to Edward Joseph and Norma Lois (Dittmer) Garrett, he married LaVonne I. Stroble on September 1, 1962 in Glasford. She died August 8, 2017 in Peoria. He was also preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Beverly Verardo.
Surviving two daughters, Michelle (Jim) May and Kathy (Lester) Wernowsky, both of Glasford; one granddaughter, Rachel (Dalton) Abrams of Glasford; two great-granddaughters, Hayden Abrams and Avery Abrams; three step-grandchildren, Sarah Sandall and Alisa (Joe) Dively, both of Pekin and Christa (DJ) Hanna of Chandler, Arizona and one sister, Shirley Adkins.
Louis was a veteran of the United States Army.
He was a current member and past president of the River Valley Antique Association and a former member of Peoria Farm Bureau and Glasford American Legion Post 35.
Louis had worked at Keystone Steel & Wire Company in Bartonville for 38 years. He was also very active on the family farm.
An avid collector of Minneapolis Moline tractors and fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, Louis was dedicated to his family and enjoyed watching his granddaughter play softball.
His graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at Lancaster Cemetery in Glasford. Chaplain Stephan Quarles will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday evening at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the family for an educational fund established for his great-granddaughters.
