

CREVE COEUR ~ Lucille L. Neubauer, 88, of Lafayette, IN, passed away at 7:47 p.m. Friday, February 5, 2016 at Heritage Healthcare in West Lafayette, IN. She was formerly of Creve Coeur and Pinewood Estates in Chillicothe.
Born April 17, 1927 in Green Valley to Henry “Doc” Herman and Etta May (Seelye) Schimmelpfennig, she was reared and educated in the Pekin schools. She married Arthur L. Neubauer on January 26, 1946 in Pekin. He preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two grandchildren, three brothers, and one sister.
Surviving are their two sons, Arthur (Karen) Neubauer of Jacksonville and Ricky (Marsha) Neubauer of Lafayette, IN; Two grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
Lucille was active in the PTA in the Creve Coeur area and served as president during her children's elementary school days. Later she was Chef for the Phi Beta Pi Sorority at Bradley University in Peoria for many years. She last served as a senior advocate for the Illinois Attorney General’s Office under former Attorney General Neil Hartigan. Both Lucille and her husband were very active in the Democratic Party for over 40 years.
She sang in several quartets, including a quartet who sang on radio in Chicago and locally for over 30 years.
She was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Pekin.
Her funeral will be at noon, Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory, 500 North 4th Street in Pekin. The Rev. Dr. Brian Byrne will officiate. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to noon Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
