

Born October 24, 1931 in Easton to Lloyd and Gladys (Knollenberg) Cave, he married Grace Eunice (Stillwell) Palmer on June 27, 1952 in Corpus Christi, Texas. She survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Lynda “Lyne” Cave of Pekin; one son, Gary (Monica Holeman) Cave of Creve Coeur; eight grandchildren, Elijah Weakley, Joel Weakley, Ashly (Travis) Rex, Jessica Cave, Alex Cave, Nic Cave, Bree Holeman, and McKenna Holeman; and two great-granddaughters, Khloe and Kora.
His parents and one sister, Delores Bubert, preceded him in death.
A United States Navy veteran of the Korean War, he served from September 26, 1950 to July 22, 1954. He served aboard the USS New Jersey. He later served in the United States Coast Guard.
Lyle worked at Hiram Walker & Son in Peoria for 27 years, mostly as the assistant paymaster. He later worked at Midwest Grain in Pekin for over 14 years until his retirement.
He was a member of Pekin First Church of Nazarene, where he was a member of the JOY Sunday school class and formerly served as a church usher. He also was a member of the Paul Towne Memorial AMVETS Post #169 in North Pekin.
Lyle was an avid bowler and also enjoyed riding motorcycles, gardening, working in his yard, and using his computer.
His memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, May 2, 2016 at Pekin First Church of the Nazarene. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the church. Pastor W. Lloyd Brock will officiate and military rites will be accorded by the United States Navy and the Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team.
