

MAPLETON ~ Lyle B. Moushon, 90, of 6439 W Wheeler Road, passed away at 3:55 p.m. Thursday, January 24, 2008 at Pekin Hospital.Born December 26, 1917, at Farmdale, near East Peoria to Lester and Mary (Burroughs) Moushon, he married Hazel I. Winkler on February 1, 1941, in the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Spring Bay. She survives.Also surviving are two sons, Carl (Susan) Moushon of Ada, Michigan and Duane (Sandra) Moushon of Tyler, Texas; one daughter, Velma (Larry) Gillingham of Carrollton; eleven grand children, April Bauer, Caresse Chandonnet, Stephanie Fountain, Rex Schofield, Mark Schofield, Mike Moushon, Steven Moushon, Diane VanVooren, Carissa Arnett, Amanda Styfhroon and Darren Arnett; twelve great grandchildren; four brothers, Herbert Moushon of Pekin, Wayne (Agnes) Moushon of Brimfield, Harland Moushon of Morton and Harold (Connie) Moushon of West Plains, Missouri and one sister, Martha (Russell) Tendall of Seneca.He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Doris E. Arnett on July 15, 2000 in Pekin; two brothers and one sister.Lyle graduated from East Peoria High School in 1937 and farmed most of his life. He, also, owned and operated a construction company that built roads and produced crushed stone and gravel.Lyle supported his children in many activities, including as Cub Master, and held many positions in church. He was very active at Grace United Methodist Church, especially as a member and past president of the United Methodist Men. Lyle and Hazel were instrumental in the fund raising and building of the elevator and addition at the church. He was a long time board member of the Tazewell County Farm Bureau and the Pekin Kiwanis Club.His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday, January 28, 2008at Grace United Methodist Church in Pekin. The Rev. Gary L. Ford will officiate. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, January 27, 2008at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel, and from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Monday at the church. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Spring Bay Cemetery.Memorial contributions may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, 503 North 4th Street, Pekin, IL 61554.
